National Junior Honor Society

Yesterday Alyssa inducted into the National Junior Honor Socitey.

I am SO proud of her.

She didn't understand all the ceremony and the fuss, but was excited to get in.

We got a letter about two weeks ago and ask that we keep it a secret from Alyssa. So, I did, and forgot about it really untill yesterday at about 1:30. I was not dressed and doing things around the house, when I thought is that today or tomorrow at 2:00? I ran to find the letter saw it was Wednesday and that I better, get dressed NOW, if I was going to make it.

I got there just as it started.

Spring Break

Last week the girls were on spring break and kept asking "Where are we going?" The first part of the week, we stayed around the house. Cleaning and playing...then on Friday we picked Kory up from work at 8 in the morning and got on the road to New Orleans. Kory slept and I drove. I have been wanting to go to the outlet mall in Foley, AL, so we went there first. Shoped around there found a few good deals on little girl clothes. We left there headed on to New Orleans when we passed another outlet in Gulfport, MS. Kory was asleep and Alyssa and I were talking when we saw it and passed it. ALyssa said can we go? and I said, yes, we will turn around. Kory quickly got up and said WHat?

Alyssa and I went to the coach outlet. They were having a sale...I got a purse. Alyssa talked Kory into buying her one too.

Then Sara found a "dress up" dress she wanted, so she talked Kory into buying that.

We finally made it to Cindy's about 8 o'clock that night.

Saturday we got up and took the girls to the Audubon Zoo. I have always loved going to that zoo. I guess because I grew up going to that zoo. They enjoyed it too! It was hot and there was alot of people there, but it was still fun.

That night Alyssa ate her first oyster at the acme oyster bar. I of course didn't eat oysters. I ate shrimp.

We when to the mall after dinner and the little girls rode the easter train.

Sunday we went to the Irish/Italian parade in Metairie. The girls always love going to the parades. After the parade we had crawfish and even Sara decide she liked them. She won't peal them but she wanted to eat them after I would peal them.

Monday we headed home and back to reality!

Never a dull moment in our house...But a wake up call!

This time it was me.

Monday I had a really bad headache and just wasn't feeling well at all. I was tired and felt very slugest, and short of breath. I felt like my arms and legs weighted a ton just to left them up. Well, I went to bed but couldn't really sleep. I got up Tuesday morning and felt like I had someone standing on my chest on the left side, it felt tight across my chest and up into my left shoulder, and I could hardly breath. I took a shower and got dressed. Nothing helped, it could kept getting worse. I got Sara ready for school and on the bus, Alyssa was home sick and still asleep, Emma was playing in her room and watching her TV. I text Kory is see what time he would be home from work, he called and said it would be a little while. I didn't tell him why, he had a regional manager there to visit, so I didn't want to bother him.

The pain and tightness just keep on and on, not letting up. I saw our neighbors were up and so I walked over to our neighbors house and ask them to bring me to the ER. They called 911, and Kory.

The EMTs hooked me up to all kinds of monitors, gave me nitro spray, and some aspiran. When we got to the ER my BP was 198/98, according to all the monitors my heart looked fine. They gave me some meds for to help get my BP down. They got blood and left me hooked up to this machine that took my BP every 5 mins, it seemed like, and monitored my heart. After a few hours they told me everything looked fine, heart wise, the only thing was my BP. He told me that when your BP is high and stays high over a period of time it will mimic a heart attack.

Well, I have to admit this is all my own doing...see when we moved I never went and got a doctor here, I just kept putting it off. So, I ran out of my blood pressure med back in January. I learned my lesson the hard way! I saw the look on my husband face as they put me in the ambulance, I have never seen that look in the 9 years we have been together. I saw the look on Alyssa's face when I got home, it will be a day I will never forget! Thanks be to God it was just a "wake up" call for me!

Saving money....

I have never been one to cut coupons or bring other ads to Wal-Mart to comp items, but with all these shows talking about how people cut their grocery bill in half, I decided I would try and see what I could do. I've only just started collecting coupons and watching other store ads. We buy groceries every two weeks and that's it except for milk or bread or something I forgot in between. So the first time I did this was two weeks ago. I just comp ads from other stores and saved $7.00. This last Thursday I had gotten some coupons and again comp ads and I saved $14.00. This doesn't include items that where on sale at Wal-Mart. or the 2 for 1 items I got at Publix. (Wal-mart won't comp those) So, really it was more like $20.00 now that I add those too.
So far it has been pretty easy, I get the other store ads look at them and compare prices at Wal-Mart. I get the Sunday paper for the coupons and then I found alot online.

I can't believe it, we got some snow!

Alyssa's Second Soccer Game of the season...

They won their second game 4-0. They did a good job. She started again this game.

Game number 3 today, if the rain lets up.

Sara's Kindergarten Dance Party

Sara had her "Dance Party" at school yesterday, it was so funny.

She had a great time and loved every moment of performing. She begged us to check her out after the program. She told us they have never called the class and said "Mrs. ....., please send Sara to the office to check out." We all started laughing, it was funny. So, we checked her out of school 30 mins early. She was so happy, she said can I do this everyday?

First High School Soccer Game

I know, I know I don't have ANY pictures.

Alyssa had her first soccer game of the season yesterday. She did a pretty good job. They didn't get their uniforms till yesterday afternoon before the game, so I didn't get any pictures before te game.

They don't have enough girls for a JV team and a Varsity team, so they are all playing on one varsity team. I was ok with it, till I saw some of the other teams girls. 8th grader playing against seniors? Some seniors are big!

Anyway, Alyssa started the game and played until there was only 20 mins left in the game! She had some time and bad kicks but over all I was very proud of her. She has come a long way since last year!

At that time we are looking around and see one player down on the field. Kory and I both are looking for Alyssa and can't find her, she was the one down on the field. Coach and the trainer went and got her off the field, Kory went over there to see about her too. I stayed with the little girls in the stands. She will be fine. Apprantly the other teams girl steped on her ankle and got her just between her shin guard and her shoe with her cleat. The trainer thinks the girl must have had metal cleats because the cut is a clean, straight cut, size and all like a metal cleat. (metal cleats are not allowed) So, she has a nice bruise and a good cut to remember her first high school soccer game!

Mardi Gras 2009 in Metairie

We ended up going to Cindy's on Friday for a weekend of Mardi Gras parades. It was alot of fun. The girls enjoyed it SO much. We ended up getting to see three parades over the weekend.

Emma and Sara loved it when the closed the road and they could ride their scooters in the street. Alyssa even got in on the fun.

Warmer weather...

The girls and I have really enjoyed the last few days of warmer weather. I sat outside watching them play in the back yard for hours Saturday. I opened the back doors and they could come and go all weekend.

As soon as Sara got home from school yesterday that was the first thing she wanted to do. I opened the doors and let her do her homework outside on the porch at the table. She enjoyed it and thought it was fun. She asked if we could do that everyday.

Alyssa's world...Soccer

THis afternoon we were all feeling better and Alyssa had been wanting to go to the soccer field, so we piled in the car and took her to the soccer field to play for a little while.

Girls will be Girls...

Emma and Sara love putting on make up. So, since we were all home this morning with Emma and I having strep. I got out the make up box. Next thing I know they turn around and look like this.

I wasn't sure if they were going out or going hunting???

Proud Momma!!

Sometimes you just have to let everyone know how proud you are of your children! Last week, Alyssa got her report card...all A's and got on the principal's list. Yay for her!!

And Sara got this medel all engraved with her name for being "Student of the Month". Yay for Sara!

My Monkeys...

So, the other morning I could hear something in the cabinet, so I went to look in the kitchen and this is what I found.

I said, "What are you doing, Monkey?"

Emma said, "I not mon-key, I E-mma. "

Now I know where all the snacks are going!

Freezing temp....

Last Thursday and Friday we had some really cold weather. Thursday night it was like 12 degrees over night and then Friday it wasn't much warmer. Kory was off work, so that evening we all got in our PJ's. and built a fire in the fireplace. It was alot of fun, we watched tv, played on the internet and had some FUN family time. We ended up making a palet on the floor for all of us to spend the night by the fire. After a couple of hours on the floor, I got up and got on the couch. I'm too old for the floor!

100th day of school

Tomorrow will be the 100th day of school for Sara. Over the weekend she had to do a project for this event. She had it all planed out what she wanted to do. She did it nearly all by herself, except for the glueing of the macaroni.

Cold Weather....

The girls are happy that we are having cold weather so they can wear their new clothes.

Sara has really become aware of her clothes. She likes decide what she will wear and how she wants her hair. I use to could pick out her clothes and just do her hair with no comments. Our mornings are sometimes a fight. The other day she wanted to wear her pink "high heels" with this green sweater and then pink bows that match the shoes. She told me "pink and green go together mom!" Well, I let her wear it. She is going to be a bold dresser.

"Make up" night

Sara has this store in the mall that she loves. It's the Libby Lu store, she calls it the "Hannah Montana Store". They have lots of Hannah Montana stuff and high school musical stuff. Well, we went there today and it's going out of business. Alot of stuff was gone and so she asked what was going on with the store. She looked up at me said "What am I going to do with out my store?" It was really funny, she was SO serious. Well, she got a pretty cool make up kit at 50% off.

Tonight while Kory and Alyssa went to the movies, we played with the make up. Sara had SO much fun, she loved it. She really liked the hot pink eye shadow, we all got some of it.

Bruchhaus Family Christmas...

Then the Saturday after Christmas we went to Elton, Louisisana to have christmas with my aunt (My mom's sister) and her family. It it always alot of fun. I only get to see these cousins once a year.

Weldon Christmas...

The Monday before Christmas we left Jacksonville and we to my dad's house to have Christmas there. Angie and Jessie came over too and ended up staying at Dad and MJ's. Cindy came in to town Christmas eve. We were all there except for Pete. It was really nice to all be together.
