2nd day of school...

Well, they both were ready to go this morning. Sara's bus, we nearly missed, comes at 6:45 a.m. (Will be a long day for her...till 4:05 p.m. May have to start picking her up from school, 9 hour day for her is too long)
Alyssa doesn't have to wear uniforms. They can wear whatever basicly. Today, she had on a long pair of shorts and flip flops. We were up painting her toes till 10:00 p.m. last night. She LOVES this school, she informed me ten times last night!

Sara's First day of Kindergarten

She was SO excited this morning. She could hardly stand it. Sara rode the bus home, she finally got home at 4:05. When she got off the bus, I asked her, "So, How was your day?" She said, "Great, I'm hungry!" So, I told her that I had baked cookies for her and Alyssa. When we got in the house, she ate and ate. I kept asking her about her day and she wouldn't say much. I could tell she was tired. I'm sure she will go to bed fast.

Alyssa's First day of 8th Grade

Alyssa had a good day. She really liked it she said. She was scared this morning, but warmed up after she got there. She met some more friends, one even lives about 4 houses up from us.

Sara started Kindergarten Camp

Sara started Kindergarten Camp today. They start school Aug. 7th. She was SO cute and excited about school. They do this camp this week to get them ready for school. They show them around the school without other kids being there. They are the only kids there.

She didn't want to get up this morning, then I said you get to go to kindergarten cam today, and she jumped up! She was ok and excited until just before they got ready to take them to there classes. She just looked at me and huged me but didn't say anything. Then I said, ok give me a kiss and a hug and go on to big school. She smiled and left.

When I went to get her, she was so excited and skiped to the car smiling ear to ear. I asked her, "So, how was it?" "Awesome" she said. and started telling me about a catapiller they made. She didn't reminder her teachers name, or the name of her "new" friend.

I think she enjoyed it! I can only hope she will always like school.

Vacation....

We went to Chattanooga, TN for a vacation last week with both my sisters. We had alot of fun! We went White Water Rafting on the Ocoee River near Chattanooga. That was, I think, the best part of the trip. It was SO fun!

We had the raft to ourselves. In the front was Alyssa and my neice, Jessica. Kory and I were in the middle, and Cindy, my oldest sister was in the back. Angie, (middle sister) and my little girls didn't go. They went to the children's discovery center in Chattanooga, then then went swiming in the hotel pool, which the kids loved.

Another new church to tried!

Well, yesterday we got up and got dressed to go to church. (Kory had worked all night, so he was sleeping.) The girls and I got to the end of the street and I asked Alyssa you want to go to the church down the road? The one here is Calera we hadn't tried. She said, "Yeah". So I can't believe I suggested it, but we went just she and I and the little girls.
We walked in and there was a desk and we went up and asked about class for each of us. The older lady showed us to classes. I was introduced to the preschool minister and the youth minister. The SS class I went to was really nice. People came up to me and introduced themselves, one couple even asked me to sit with them during worship. Alyssa came in to the worship service smiling ear to ear. She said "Can I sit with them?". She had walked in with about 4 or 5 girls her age. One plays soccer at Calera. So, I sat by myself. The music was good and upbeat. The pastor was good. I enjoyed the message. The little girls had fun too. Sara told me she liked the play ground. When I went to pick up the girls people would walk by and "nice to have you this morning".
Then, today, Kory and I ran to Wal-Mart, as we were walking in a lady said "Hey!" like as if I knew her. I said "Hi". Then she said, "You visted our SS class yesterday." I said "Oh, yes" She said "how to see you back again".
This afternoon we were outside washing the car and the preschool minister and the youth minister came by to visit us. They were nice, didn't stay long, the girls and all of us were wet. We just stood outside and talked about how long we had lived here, visiting, and if we needed anything to just call and let them know.
I have been very impressed with the people at this church. We might have to keep visiting this one and find out more about it. Alyssa said she like it because these people would go to school with her. I think it helped that she made a friend that plays soccer at Calera High School.
Only time will tell...

Father's Day Weekend...

We had a nice weekend. Kory was off. Friday we went looking around at an outlet mall not far from here, and picked up a flip and fill pool for the girls. Saturday, we went walking around the Galleria in Hoover and got some DQ ice cream. Sunday, we went to church (a second time at Westwood) then Kory wanted to go out to eat, so we went to Olive Garden. After that we came home and let the girls play in the pool. Sara is loving it. Emma is still getting use to it. Late yesterday, she would get down real low and walk across the pool and want us to cheer for her. She is getting to be so funny.

This morning at lunch she and Sara had the same food, but Sara got up from her chair and Emma shoved all of Sara's food in her mouth. It was SO funny. Her cheeks looked like a chipmonk.

We had a lot of fun playing this weekend. Friday, we watered the grass and the "kids" played in the spinker. I think they all had fun!

Saturday, we took the girls to Alabaster's Cityfest. The little girls had a good time, there wasn't much for Alyssa to do.

Visting another new church

We have had a nice weekend. Yesterday we went to Alabaster's CityFest. It was nice, but only things for the little girls and live music. Tracy Lawrance was there last night. We left before that. Way too hot to stay out there for very long.
We came home to find our neighbors outside riding bikes. So, the girls wanted to ride also, so we visiting outside with them till after dark. They have 2 kids around the age of Sara and Emma. They played really well together and it gave the adults a chance to talk. Well, they invited us to their church, it's a bigger church (Temple size) in Alabaster. (It's about 4 miles north of the house.) After talking to them about it, Kory and Alyssa wanted to go check it out this morning. So, we did. We got there to find 3, yes, 3 Worship Service times. 8, 9:30 and 11. They offer SS classes during all three also. We decided to go to SS at 9:30 and Worship at 11. They have greeters everywhere and a HUGE information desk as you walk in. So, we were introduced to the Executive Pastor of Ministries. He just happened to be standing there at the desk. He showed us where to go and took Alyssa to the Student building for her class. They have the SAME ACS computer check-in for preschool, just like Temple. But, we, being guest, have laminated cards with numbers on it. Emma and Sara both went on in the class with no problems and no tears. They have a Wee Worship (Children's church) for Sara after SS.
They had given us this "Find a Class" brochure for Kory and I. So, we figured out which age group we fell in and just picked a class. (Started wit the first one) There have 4 for our age alone. It was nice and full and we enjoyed it. We met Alyssa in the front desk area after SS and she was with a big group of kids from her class. I asked her we she was sitting with us or with others, and she said with ya'll. She loved her class, didn't meet anyone from Calera schools. The worship service was contemporary style. We enjoyed the service and the time went by very fast. The pastor is a younger guy, younger then Dr. Rick.
We were home maybe about 2 hours and a deacon came by the house to thank us for visiting and to give us a whole bag full of brochures on the church. Ask what we thought about our visit, and said he hoped to see us again. Asked if there was anything he could do for us. Kory was across the street with Sara at the neighbors swiming. Emma was sleeping, and Alyssa was ??? I was like "thanks" we enjoyed it and yes, we would go back, just standing at the door.
It was a church I think we would like. Lots of things to get pluged in to. Who knows, we'll just have to pray about it and see what the week brings.
It was a nice weekend...

Our First Vist to a new church!

Ok, so all week we have been looking at churches here in Calera online. So, we decided on Calera Baptist Church. We all got our clothes ready and ironed last night so there wouldn't be any excuses this morning. The alarm went off this morning, and I felt sick. Those "butterflies in your stomach" sick. We pressed on. On the way over there I this had those same feelings. We got there... at 8:45 a.m., (It said SS started at 9:00) and there were maybe 7 cars in the parking lot (This is suppose to be the bigger of the churches). Sara said "Are sure they are open?" We got out of the car and slowly walked up to the door. It was nice inside, and we saw one man in the hallway, (no greeters). He was nice and helped us find people to tell him where the little girls SS classes would be. (No one was there yet) I saw the tags, that Temple had, sitting on a table in the hallway outside, so I filled one out for Emma. The lady said "Oh, you need to fill one out for all your children." I filled one out for Sara and found her class. I something about picking her up after SS, and the teacher said" No, she will stay in here, unless you just want her to go with you." Sara looked up and said, "I can stay and play...YES"! She had her "big Chruch" bag with her and she was ready to go. But so was Emma, they were fine...no tears at all. THey both said "Bye" and off Kory and I went. I guess a part of me wanted them to cry and not want to stay...(I still had those butterflies in my stomach)One of the dad's from Emma's class teaches a SS class our age, so he invited us to his class. So, that's where Kory and I went. It was nice, we enjoyed it. Everyone came up and spoke to us, they were friendly. After SS, we went back down stairs to go to the worship service. It was a big gym...they just moved into this building. They haven't built a Sanctuary yet. The music was nice...alot like "the gathering" at Temple, or really for those of you...I would say this church in just like "Lake Fork Baptist Church" when it was in the second building, (the one Kory and I got married in).Over all, it was good and we enjoyed it. The pastor is good. Kory and I both enjoyed the message. Alyssa did to. During the song service we sang "Since Jesus came in to my Heart" (a fast, granny jan style) and I thought Alyssa was going to come out of her seat. She looked back at we and had the biggest smile on her face. (She sat with other girls from her SS class)THe butterflies went away and over all it was a "good morning".

Well, today was our first full day here in Calera. The little girls played outside, watched TV and played outside some more. I think they might enjoy it here. I unpacked the rest of the Kitchen and went to get some food for the house. Then just spend some time outside with the girls.
