New Church home!

Well, we did it! Sunday we joined Concord Baptist Church here in Calera. It was bitter sweet. I remember feeling the same way when we joined Temple, Like as if I was betraying Lake Fork...this time betraying Temple. I'm weird I know!

Anyway, we did...we starting finding the holes to get "plugged in" here. They don't have a Sunday evening worship service, they have small group bible studies. Alyssa and I went, and it was fun. And I know getting "plugged in" makes all the difference.

(Working at Temple taught me SO much, more then any of them will ever know!!)

We have been pretty busy lately. Keeping up with two in school is a full time job.
Last Sunday we went to a fellowship for our new Sunday School class at the park. It was alot of fun and we got to know alot of new people.

Birthday Money

She got 2 pairs of shoes, 4 pairs of jeans, 1 AE belt, a AE bag, jewelry, some proactive, 23 shirts (9 new camies, 14 shirts) and 2 light jackets. Alyssa had gotten money from us and Aunt Dee, Paw-Paw and Jo, and a gift cert to AE from Phil. She had a lot of fun shopping, she was like a kid in a candy store.

Instead of a party this year, Sara wanted to go to the Libby Lu store and get a "Rock Star" makeover. She was SO excited! and really loved it!

New Hair Cut

I have been working on Alyssa for months to change her hair style or cut. So, tonight I made some progress...she let me cut it to about 2 inchs below her shoulders and she said that she would be wiling to cut it to her shoulders IF a professional did it. I said, OK. After we cut it, she said, "Oh, I like it" and smiled. So, I think she did like it. I curled it under, she wants it straighter.

First full week of School...

It's been a busy week. Getting up at 6 a.m. and not going to bed till after 10 is getting old already.

I have been getting up and fixing Sara and Alyssa lunch every morning. I was writing little notes in Alyssa's lunch telling her to have a good and love you (she had told me not to do it again (she comes home 30 mins before Sara)

...and did the same in Sara's lunch on Wednesday for the first time.

When she came home that afternoon, she gave me the note all crumbled up and said "Mom, don't put letters in my lunch box no more!" We laughed and I said Ok, I won't.

Well, later on that evening we went to a gym near here to check out a gymnastic class Sara will be attending. She got mad because we were just observeing the class and she couldn't actually do the class. She got was upset and started haveing a melt down. I picked her up and we left early becasue of this. She was really mad now. When we got in the car and started mouthing about having to go and not being able to see what she was going to doing.

She mouthed all the way home saying she was going to grow up and move out and not come back to see us, and make her own rules and do what she wanted to do and not write letter in her child's lunch. I just let her go, NOT saying a word. When we got home, I told her to go to her room, she was punished. She said "WHY?" I told her she couldn't talk to me like that. She stormed upstairs. It was a evening, and she is only 4. Oh, I can't wait for the teenage years.

Also, Wednesday Alyssa came home from school saying her gifted paper work was incomplete and that they are going to move her to a regular classes. So, Thursday morning I got up and went to school to find out. After many hours of talking and figureing all this out. Basicly, it is because Alyssa was tested in Louisiana not in Alabama

and can't just transfer into their gifted classes. So, after 6 weeks of being in another class they will process her with her scores from La and do the behavoir evals from here. Not really fair, but I guess I can understand.

Then tonight Alyssa wants to go to the movies with her friends...go meet them there and I'll pick her up. Kory being the person he is says no, I said, ok. We have to come to some kind of agreement here. It's only just begun!

2nd day of school...

Well, they both were ready to go this morning. Sara's bus, we nearly missed, comes at 6:45 a.m. (Will be a long day for her...till 4:05 p.m. May have to start picking her up from school, 9 hour day for her is too long)

Alyssa doesn't have to wear uniforms. They can wear whatever basicly. Today, she had on a long pair of shorts and flip flops. We were up painting her toes till 10:00 p.m. last night. She LOVES this school, she informed me ten times last night!

Sara's First day of Kindergarten

She was SO excited this morning. She could hardly stand it. Sara rode the bus home, she finally got home at 4:05. When she got off the bus, I asked her, "So, How was your day?" She said, "Great, I'm hungry!" So, I told her that I had baked cookies for her and Alyssa. When we got in the house, she ate and ate. I kept asking her about her day and she wouldn't say much. I could tell she was tired. I'm sure she will go to bed fast.

Alyssa had a good day. She really liked it she said. She was scared this morning, but warmed up after she got there. She met some more friends, one even lives about 4 houses up from us.

Sara started Kindergarten Camp

Sara started Kindergarten Camp today. They start school Aug. 7th. She was SO cute and excited about school. They do this camp this week to get them ready for school. They show them around the school without other kids being there. They are the only kids there.

She didn't want to get up this morning, then I said you get to go to kindergarten cam today, and she jumped up! She was ok and excited until just before they got ready to take them to there classes. She just looked at me and huged me but didn't say anything. Then I said, ok give me a kiss and a hug and go on to big school. She smiled and left.

When I went to get her, she was so excited and skiped to the car smiling ear to ear. I asked her, "So, how was it?" "Awesome" she said. and started telling me about a catapiller they made. She didn't reminder her teachers name, or the name of her "new" friend.

I think she enjoyed it! I can only hope she will always like school.

Vacation....

We went to Chattanooga, TN for a vacation last week with both my sisters. We had alot of fun! We went White Water Rafting on the Ocoee River near Chattanooga. That was, I think, the best part of the trip. It was SO fun!

We had the raft to ourselves. In the front was Alyssa and my neice, Jessica. Kory and I were in the middle, and Cindy, my oldest sister was in the back. Angie, (middle sister) and my little girls didn't go. They went to the children's discovery center in Chattanooga, then then went swiming in the hotel pool, which the kids loved.
